Actuation Lab

Actuation Lab is a UK hardware innovator on a mission to eliminate industrial valve gas leaks to atmosphere — leakage equivalent to 96.4 million tonnes of CO2 a year and 1.3 billion pounds in lost product. Its first product, Dragonfly, applies origami-inspired engineering to remove leaking seals in flow control devices.

The company targets natural gas and chemicals, hydrogen and green fuels, and cryogenic hydrogen markets, and has been awarded a Hydrogen Supply 2 contract from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to develop leak-free flow control devices for hydrogen, plus a joint development project with the Net Zero Technology Centre and the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland. Backed by investment from Zero Carbon Capital, KERO Group and Evenlode, Actuation Lab has relocated to an industrial facility with in-house advanced manufacturing and test capability to take its products from lab to commercial trials worldwide.
