Moog Inc., founded in 1951 by William C. Moog in New York, invented the modern electrohydraulic servo valve and remains the premium name in precision motion control. The company's servo valves — two-stage, pilot-operated devices that modulate hydraulic flow with electronic precision — enabled flight controls for military and commercial aircraft, steering for missiles and launch vehicles, and the exacting hydraulic control required by turbine governing systems, injection molding presses, steel mills and structural test rigs. Moog's industrial group applies this heritage to electrohydraulic actuation packages for power generation, including steam and gas turbine control, hydroelectric governor systems and large industrial valve actuation where electric alternatives cannot deliver the force density, stiffness and dynamic response of hydraulics. The portfolio also covers brushless servo motors and drives, giving customers electromechanical routes where appropriate. Moog manufactures in the USA, Europe and Asia, and its service organization rebuilds and re-rates servo valves decades old. In applications where milliseconds and micron-level positioning matter — aerospace, turbines, high-end test systems — Moog is not merely a supplier but the benchmark against which competitors are measured.
