Yokogawa Electric Corporation, founded in 1915 in Tokyo by Dr. Yokogawa and Shibata as Japan's first manufacturer of electric meters, is today one of the world's leading process control and measurement companies. Its Centum distributed control system — introduced in 1975 and continuously evolved since — runs tens of thousands of plants, holding a particularly strong position in oil and gas, refining, petrochemical and power generation across Asia and the Middle East, where Japanese and Korean EPC projects standardized on it. The measurement portfolio includes EJA and EJX differential pressure transmitters, digital yokogawa flowmeters (vortex, magnetic, Coriolis and ultrasonic), temperature and analytical instruments, and the DPharp sensor technology that defined transmitter accuracy for a generation. Yokogawa also supplies safety instrumented systems (ProSafe), production management software, and laboratory and fiber-optic instruments through subsidiaries. The company invests in industrial cybersecurity and autonomous operations research, positioning itself for the evolution toward self-running plants. For projects built on Japanese engineering standards, and for any plant prioritizing measurement accuracy and control system longevity, Yokogawa is a benchmark supplier with a track record measured in decades.
