Babbitt Chainwheels is the leading manufacturer of manually operated overhead valve actuators, known as chainwheels, worldwide. Babbitt chainwheels with chain guides allow valves in high, normally out-of-reach locations to be operated easily and economically; the chainwheel attaches to a valve hand wheel so it can be opened and closed from the floor, fitting hand wheels from 2 to 36 inches in diameter.

The parent company, Babbitt Steam Specialty Company, began in 1907 as a mill supply house for the steam-powered textile industry in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and the adjustable sprocket rim chainwheel was invented there in 1915. Later improvements include the Hammer-Blow for controlling high-pressure valves and the Safety Wheel for reducing the hazard of a falling hand wheel. With large stock onsite and a network of manufacturers' representatives, the company delivers quick shipments and can adapt sprocket or pocket style chainwheels to specific requirements before dispatch.
