Limitorque (Flowserve)

USA · Founded 1921 · Categories: Electric Actuators
Official Website: www.limitorque.com ↗

Limitorque, founded in 1921 in the United States and now the electric actuation brand of Flowserve, is one of the oldest names in valve automation — so established that in much of the power industry electric actuators are simply called limitorques. The company's classic MX and L120 multi-turn actuators, and the QX part-turn range, introduced torque-seating and declutchable manual overrides that became the template for the entire industry. Limitorque actuators are the standard electric drive on gate and globe valves in thermal and nuclear power stations: the brand carries nuclear safety qualification for severe accident service, seismic qualification, and MOV (motor-operated valve) diagnostic packages that measure stem thrust and actuator health during stroke testing. Beyond power generation, the range serves pipelines, water works, mining and refining with quarter-turn and multi-turn models in corrosion-protected and explosion-proof executions. Backed by Flowserve's global service network, Limitorque offers actuator modernization kits that retrofit decades-old installed units with current electronics. For applications where a valve must close against full differential pressure on electric command, reliably, for forty years, Limitorque is usually on the shortlist.
